Apres Counseling is a Maryland based group practice that concentrates on a humanistic approach to serve a diverse population.
Originally conceptualized as a program of self awareness and actualization, Apres counseling provides a professional framework for process. Our goal is to introduce a healthy perspective and act as a catalyst on your journey. With support and acceptance we encourage a conscious look at behaviors, environment and a discussion of interpretation of the unconscious thought.
To cultivate a safe therapeutic environment we offer treatment in different settings, with flexible scheduling. Service locations include our center, community programs and neighborhood based locations.
It is our belief that progress begins with touching on everyday changeability through learning.
Practice Specializations
We participate in Medicaid and Medicare as well as most major insurance providers. Private pay is billed at $165.00 per session. A sliding scale fee schedule is available with special circumstances.

Individuals
Every struggle is personal. We will present specific and focused therapy to collaborate with you on transition. Therapy is on the client’s schedule, we meet you where you feel comfortable.
Groups
Know that you are not alone. Sharing, listening and learning collectively in a group setting help many to identify from other people’s knowledge and experience. Things are sometimes easier together.
Couples
You and your partner will work on building a foundation for your relationship thru realization, behaviors and communication. It starts with understanding yourself and each other.
Families
By incorporating a systems approach to address the concerns of the entire family through recognizing roles and how they relate to one another in the family. The goal is create cohesion and value.
Evaluations
Diagnostic testing and evaluation services provide comprehensive information to assist with targeted symptoms and concerns. We administer various assessment tools for determination.
Substance Abuse
Low intensity outpatient treatment available for alcohol and substance abuse. An intake assessment and evaluation is required. Referral services to IOP for higher level of care.

Leo Chernyakhovsky, LCSW-C, CPRP
MANAGING PARTNER
Leo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner. He earned his master’s degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore. He has worked in multifaceted clinical environments, specializing in severe and persistent mental illness populations, and psychiatric rehabilitation with adult and geriatric populations.
Leo continues to work with adults, couples and families with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders and mood disorders. Leo practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in collaboration with Brief Solution Focused Therapy and other evidence based approaches.
